BioThis is the manuscript of the book Blood Matters by Masha Gessen. It is a work in progress. The purpose of this journal is to give a small group of people the opportunity--and, underhandedly, to create in them a sense of obligation--to comment on the text, primarily to catch mistakes in the science and errors in the logic. All posts are available to friends only. All posts are strictly first-draft stuff. Please do not befriend this journal if you want to enjoy the book: the text will be disjointed, unedited and, quite possibly, uninteresting. Please do befriend it if you think you might enjoy playing teacher-editor to the author.
Why, you might ask, am I doing this online rather than sending drafts to selected people? I have two reasons. First of all, I am interested not only in nit-picking comments but also in nit-picking discussions of the sort I hope my friends can have. Second, this journal serves as my online backup.
